Market analysis
Markets and market mechanisms are an important component of the health and social care economy, working alongside a range of bureaucratic arrangements. This theme is about understanding which type of market for H&SC services – from highly regulated internal markets to fully decentralised market models – best achieves strategic goals.
Our main aims under this theme are to:
- Analyse the potential for use of markets in H&SC to improve overall performance
- Analyse the impact that different configurations of markets can make on prices, outputs, quality and outcomes
- Explore how the best configurations could be implemented in practice
